Cindy is a nationally certified Level 3 Iyengar yoga instructor. She worked as an assistant attorney general in Massachusetts before devoting herself to the study of yoga in 1998. She has been teaching group classes and working privately with students since 2006.
Cindy currently is serving as the President of the Iyengar Association of the Southwest (IYASW).
A student of Patricia Walden, one of the foremost yoga teachers in the world, Cindy has traveled to India three times to study with the Iyengar family in Pune, India at the Ramamani Iyengar Memorial Yoga Institute. She studies regularly with other senior Iyengar teachers from around the world and the United States.
Cindy is grateful to her teachers for their devotion to the rich subject of yoga, the integrity of their practice, and their dedication to the art of teaching. There are a few words to express her profound gratitude toward the late Yogacharya B.K.S. Iyengar, whose life’s work will continue to shine a light on the lives of so many.
Having studied the Iyengar method of yoga for over 20 years, I have had the honor of working with many wonderful teachers. However, Cindy stands out as exceptional. I love the balance that she strikes between the physical aspect and the philosophical and spiritual aspects of yoga. Cindy’s senior-level training and commitment to expanding her own knowledge means that she teaches classes that are wonderfully varied and interesting, helping students continually to expand, improve, and deepen their practice and knowledge. Cindy has an incredible attention to detail and a deep commitment to her students. She takes the time to understand (and remember) our individual physical conditions and restrictions. She is both kind and compassionate, meeting any student where they are at, and helping adapt poses as needed. At the same time, she encourages and challenges us, demonstrating her genuine interest in our growth as yoga practitioners.
